About US

IN 2020, ALISON ADAMS DONATED MARYLANDS FARM TO INSPIRE FOR GENERATIONS.

Her gift was given so that the historic site in New Haven, Indiana, could be preserved, refreshed, and made available to the public. The park will be a tranquil place to discover and explore history and nature, away from the modern world. It is a distinctive addition to the New Haven Adams Township Parks & Recreation Department.

Announced in the fall of 2021, Phase 1 plans for Marylands Farm Park encompass six of the property’s 10 acres. A uniquely inspiring addition to the park is envisioned for Phase 2. Timing for Phase 2 and beyond remains to be determined. Eventually, Marylands Farm Park will offer visitors 10 acres in which to discover the wonders of nature in the setting of an earlier time.

As development proceeds, the park will be unavailable to visitors for the time being. Certain features may be made available, with limited hours, once they are completed.

our history

Marylands Farm Park’s rich, rural farmland represents a piece of history in New Haven, Indiana. The park was part of the area’s first farm, established in 1825 by a land grant to Jesse Adams from President John Quincy Adams.

After Jesse’s property was divided, the new owner erected the stately 1870s brick farmhouse. Over time the barn and other structures were added, and from this homestead the land has been farmed for 150 years.

Alison Adams purchased the farm in 1986 and named it Marylands Farm after her family’s farm in England and her fond childhood memories of the farm experience. She has served as a conscientious caretaker of her historic property and, in 2020, donated it to ensure its heritage would inspire for generations.
